As the clock strikes thirteen, there’s an Aamir Khan shouting ‘Rang De Basanti’ in the next room. In the middle of the night I’m woken up by a stupid missed call from one of my classmates. Apparently missed calls now make up 20-25% of cell phone usage in India according to Industry statistics. People are hell bent on using missed calls as a method of communicating and giving signals when the call rates for cell phone calls are dirt cheap in India. Strange enough people yet find these missed calls addictive and best modes of staying in touch. Addictive as it is, people rush to check and call-back to check as if it might be the million dollar call they’ve always been waiting for! Guys always send a text message back just to check up if some bombshell mistakingly dropped a missed call on their phones. Girls make the most of missed call feature on their cell phones to save money and let their boyfriends call them back and pay for the bills! Indians seem to have mastered in this art of missed calls for sure! Oh here’s a missed call, dinner is ready! I’ll have to rush downstairs.
