It’s official. August 6 is International Friendship Day. It’s a day when people waste precious hours of the day fooling around chasing the opposite sex and sometimes the same with inexpensive flowers, gifts, toys, chocolates, jewelry and all sorts of impressive give-away! It’s a day when people loosen their wallets and hope for that special someone would realize the virtue of their true friendship and they shall remain true friends forever!
Cut the crap and it’s a day of useless chasing, gifting, impressing and hoping for miracles. The same people forget the color of the flowers you bought for them the very next week. The same people stare at you the very next year as if you were an alien from Mars. The same people somehow forget the amount you spent on them on this very day. In all the day is the next worst to first days at college. Nevertheless here’s a super guide on what to gift this friendship day!
So if you’re one of the firm believers in my ideals here’s how you can have the most this Friendship Day. It’s risk free, clean, crisp and ideal way to celebrate the day with no tears, hugging or chocolates. Actually hugging is human, so go ahead!
++ Flowers - Send him/her some flowers. Not the expensive ones. Try a single rose(red or yellow, whatever). Roses always work and then there are cheaper alternatives. Don’t risk a whole bunch of colorful and sweet looking flowers.
++ Chocolates - These are sweet temptations and a must for every occasion. But remember the taste lasts only for a few minutes and then it’s all Hum Aapke Hain Kaun again! Skip to cheaper brands. Qadbury is expensive sometimes, Nestle isn’t good enough. Mars and Snickers are expensive. Try smaller variants like Munch, Perk, 5Star etc. At five bucks a peice they perfectly fit the bill.
++ Toys - I’ll take it for granted that you’re grown up, at least a teen if you’re reading this. No? You shouldn’t be spending time surfing the net then. Go out and play kid! With toys there’s a lot to experiment, impress and flirt with. Soft toys are touchy for girls(count me out please!). Especially those heart and bunny shaped freaks. They are available near your local stores at cheap prices so go ahead. Match them with a chocolate and you’ve got the perfect combo.
++ Friendship Bands - Raksha Bandhan isn’t the only occaision where you can tie bands around the other person anymore. There are funky looking friendship bands available in the market for as cheap as five bucks. Go ahead buy plenty and keep your fingers crossed.
++ Jewelry - Not for the faint hearted, jewelry can also be purchased if you’ve got the worst job in the world. If you’re a student then you should have saved for this since Valentines. Anyways, try a branded Ddamas, Sparkles or Asmi. You could get diamond rings, diamond earrings, diamong gold earrings, gold rings and earrings for as low as six thousand bucks. But then of course it’s for that someone special!
++ Watches - Time is precious but watches aren’t! There are cool watches available in the market. Titan’s Fastrack is a cool option. Timex is also out with a brand new range of watches you can gift your friends.
Apart from gifting, make sure you spend some quality time with your friends too. That’s what matters the most. For friendship isn’t anything materialistic. So go ahead, enjoy your day and don’t forget to thank me. For what? Just do as I say and you’ll be in a better state of health!
