Freedom—so, so, so many meanings. Over-hyped or under-rated, this word is the basis of Indian history. India turns 60 this year and I say so because I believe that you are born when you are free. Surpass those “as a result of freedom” developmental and political terms and come to define freedom. Trust me, you wont be able to convince yourself easily.
I tried and ended up confused.
So is freedom about giving voice to your opinions or is it about expressing your emotions? If the case is so—then our society will end up in chaos. And where did the freedom go, I don’t know. Is it about going on a vacation whenever you want or sleeping till 10 in the morning—oh! Come over it— you selfish folks. Is it about economic independence or inner confidence—Gosh! Big terms, not for me! Is it about having your own space or living your dreams—hey! Why are you asking me?
Is it about being yourself ? Wait, then what are others here for?
Ok— chuck the rapid-fire. Lets try getting it straight. We- the youth of today—are said to be the fountainhead of idealism of a nation. And I think idealism comes when one is free.
So are we free? Can we define freedom on our own terms?
My interpretation of freedom—Freedom is the voice we were born with, though many try to silence it. It is our right to chose, to dissent, to agree, to fight for causes even if they are not our own and even if we do not win. It is the liberty to live fully, love freely but w/o any strings attached.
Huh! This seems poetic and larger than life. I wonder why freedom is not a Karan Johar movie?!
