It’s official. August 6 is International Friendship Day. It’s a day when people waste precious hours of the day fooling around chasing the opposite sex and sometimes the same with inexpensive flowers, gifts, toys, chocolates, jewelry and all sorts of impressive give-away! It’s a day when people loosen their wallets and hope for that special someone would realize the virtue of their true friendship and they shall remain true friends forever!
Cut the crap and it’s a day of useless chasing, gifting, impressing and hoping for miracles. The same people forget the color of the flowers you bought for them the very next week. The same people stare at you the very next year as if you were an alien from Mars. The same people somehow forget the amount you spent on them on this very day. In all the day is the next worst to first days at college. Nevertheless here’s a super guide on what to gift this friendship day!

Too much of coffee isn’t good! So we decided to come up with something new. After Fonzter, we’re rocking the web with India’s first ever shoppers community online. We call her Shopvy!
Shopvy what?! Shopvy is going to be an online community that means you, me and a whole bunch of people on the web who don’t feel tired by hours of shopping and yet need a vacation after work.
So what’s there? To begin with there’s a forum where everyone can share their views, reviews, information, queries, rants, news, deals, coupons etc. etc. Soon there would be plenty of new features as well!
What’s the use? The idea is to connect fellow shoppers who love to shop. Now that’s not just women alone! Exchange of information is the main thing.
And my candies? Hop on, browse, register and be a part of the community. It won’t take a minute and we promise not to beg you for your hard earned money!
Feedback, suggestions, death threats and critisism most welcome at support@shopvy.com

The first things that the word ‘rain’ reminds me of are the amazing aroma of hot fried pakoras, spicy samosas and a cup of piping hot tea. I remember the good old days when I would run across our street, dirty myself in the muddy waters and dance in the rain! Those were the days. Sad enough living in this part of Northern India we’re the last ones to experience the great Indian monsoon.
Each year the monsoon teases us by arriving late. This year is no different. We’re into July and expect the monsoon to bring down the mercury and shower us with a generous amount of water. The power situation has worsened over the past couple of days with daily power cuts of more than three hours here. The situation worsens each summer. We seem to have a great amount of water in the damn dams but somehow it seems to be producing not enough power during summer. Some close for maintainace. Whatever!

The past couple of weeks were spent in buying expensive paper (admission forms), dirtying them up with low grades, attesting copies of certificates for no good reason and posting them back. That makes me wonder why we purchased those forms anyway?!
Though I spent most of the money on booze and clothes, a lot of the ugly stains on my dad’s add on credit card statement would be the forms and prospectus money. Stupid pictures glorifying the horrifying status of the colleges printed on cheap paper along with a one page form is called a prospectus! Let alone that, the whole form filling episode is an Aspirin buster!
Everyone feels for me at the moment. Friends, family, relatives and a few guys I dated understand that this is the most important phase in my life that will decide my fate. But I have a truly different perspective, as usual!

High school is finally over. My parents now have another thing to worry about me other than my freedom, weekly allowance, talking to strange guys and other things they believe aren’t suitable for an eighteen year old like me. The result for the finals was as expected, crap! With a couple of no-so-good scores on my stupid mark-sheet I might just have to roam around like a nomad before I find a place in any college around.
The first thing my parents and others are concerned about is the course I should select for college. Now that’s a very interesting question. My future depends on this exact question and right now I realize I just spent twelve years at college and I never sat down and thought upon this. I wanted to be superwoman when I was in primary school. I wanted to be a model when I entered high school. I just wanted to get laid when I was nearing the end of high school. Sad enough nothing worked for me! So coming back to the question I don’t really have much of a choice on a serious note. I could end up getting hitched to a rich freak and swallow all his smiling Gandhis and run away a night after marriage. So the choice doesn’t matter anymore. I’m like a desperate girl looking for anything I can get my hands on.
